Colored hair vs. undyed hair

Our product is developed primarily for undyed hair, i.e. hair that has not been dyed, such as growths. Since it's a light color and not a fade, it doesn't lighten up other colors that well. Therefore, we cannot guarantee any difference if you choose to use the product on already colored hair. However, some have tested anyway and got a result that is 1-2 steps lighter.

When we say "undyed hair" we mean hair that has not yet been dyed. It can be a whole mass of hair that has never been dyed, but the vast majority of our customers use the product on their growth. For example. a reddish or dark growth on an otherwise blonde or curly hair. In this way, you lighten the base so that the entire hair gets an even color.

It is very positive that it is undyed, then the whole hair is brightened. But if it's very dark undyed, without sun bleaching etc, you don't have that many changes in your hair. Then the result can be quite monochromatic and flat. Then you can put in a few loops afterwards to liven it up. If, on the other hand, you have decent blonde hair with changes from the summer, etc., you have the perfect starting point for a perfect result.

How the product works on different hair

Sunkissed works on all natural hair colors, i.e. hair that has not been dyed. For example, to erase growths. The result is most obvious on red-colored shades, but also works on others, e.g. ginger.

If you do not like warmer and sun-kissed tones in your hair, do not use this product. If you know that you are allergic to hair dye, PPD, you should also avoid the product.

If you have a darker growth than your lengths, which you want to lighten up a few shades, I would say that Sunkissed is for you. Sunkissed works best on undyed hair, such as growths.

The product works on all undyed hair. The result is most obvious on a dark or rat-colored outgrowth. If you have a dark outgrowth with gray strands in it, the result will be light strands, because Sunkissed does not cover gray. If you have a dark brown to dark brown natural hair color, the result can be a little more subtle.

No hair is the same and our product therefore works slightly differently on different hair. If you have thicker and coarser hair, the effect time is, for example, a little longer than on thin and fine hair.

If you have dark brown to black hair, you can leave the product on for 7-13 minutes. Use 15 ml of water for best results.

If you have dark hair, you can start the application at the very end of the growth, about 4 cm from the scalp. After five minutes, apply the product to the rest of the growth as well and massage into the scalp. Let sit for another 5 minutes. In total, the product should sit for 10 minutes in darker hair, but only 5 minutes in the bottom. Use 15 ml of water

You who are blonde can use 20 ml of water instead of 15. Work quickly into the product throughout the growth and expect a short effect time of about 3 minutes. Just before you rinse out your hair, you can massage the product into your bleached lengths as well. But don't leave the product on there for too long. Then there is a risk that they will turn ash-grey/silvery, because the product contains cold pigments that dampen orange tones.

You who have a blond growth can have in the product for about 3 minutes. If you are blond in the lengths but have a reddish growth, you apply the product only to the growth and let it work for 3-5 minutes. Use 20 ml of water for best results.

For best results, use 15 ml of water. If you want to go from black/dark hair to ginger, you should leave the product for 10 minutes. If you are naturally ginger from the beginning and want to lighten towards blonde, you should let the product sit for 10-20 minutes.

If you want to go from black/dark hair to ginger, you should leave the product for 10 minutes. If you are naturally ginger from the beginning and want to lighten towards blonde, you should let the product sit for 10-20 minutes.

If you have gray hair, you should leave the product on for between 5-10 minutes, depending on how dark you are between the gray hairs. If you are light in between, run for 5 minutes and if you are dark, run for 10. Use 10 ml of water for best results.

For those of you who have gray growth, it is best to start by putting the product on the back of your neck. Then in the rest of the scalp and finally out into the lengths if you want to lighten up there as well. For gray hair, it is best to mix 10 ml of water instead of 15, it gives the very best results. Recommended working time is 5 minutes, but no hair is the same, so for best results, look in the mirror during the working time. Scratch the bottom a little with your finger to see how the color has worked. Is it still dark between the grays? Let it sit for a while longer.

An optimal starting position is to have between 1-4 cm growth. But it also works on both smaller and slightly longer growth. In other words, the product is best suited for those who have already dyed their hair before and want to fade the growth between salon visits.

If you have colored hair with growth of up to 1-10 cm, it is best to apply the product to the scalp and neck first. Then, if you also want to lighten the lengths, you can pull out the product in the lengths for the last few minutes.

You who have a longer growth can start with the application at the bottom of the growth. Leave approx. 2 cm closest to the scalp and massage the product into the scalp at the very end. We do this because the hair closest to the scalp is "new" and therefore dyes faster than hair that has grown out a little longer. Use 15 ml of water.

Technical issues

We recommend having 15 ml of water as a starting point because it works best for all hair.

Water helps start the process. If you choose not to use water, the result may therefore be less clear. In addition, the result may be warmer in shade and more towards the orange side if you do not use water.

If you don't want a golden result, you can definitely try this. But if you increase the amount of water and reduce the duration of action, you also risk that there will not be much result at all. Our tip is to run the amount of water according to the instructions for use, but to keep track of the result during the working time by scraping off the product with your finger on a small surface at the bottom. If it still looks dark, or if you don't see a difference, leave it on longer.

If there is a lot of metal in the water you use, there is a risk that the hair will become very hot during the dyeing process. This is not because of the product itself, but because of the high metal content in the water. If it starts to get hot, our recommendation is to rinse out immediately.

Our general recommendation is to let the product sit for 5 minutes. But no hair is the same, so for best results, always look in the mirror and scrape off a small amount of hair color at the bottom with your finger to see the result. If it's still dark and you don't see a difference, let it sit for a minute to. If you let the product sit for too short a time, there is a risk that there will be no difference. If you let the product sit for too long, there is a risk that you will start to "dig up" really hot pigments. We just want to scratch the surface and erase the darkest part of the growth.

It depends entirely on the starting position. If you have colored hair with short growth, it is best to start at the bottom and neck, then pull out a little in the lengths at the last minute just before you rinse, if you want to lighten there as well. If you have dyed hair with long growth, it is smartest to put it at the bottom and the rest of the growth at the same time, and then pull out the lengths if you so wish. If you have completely undyed and evenly dark hair, you can pull out the entire hair immediately.

In the unlikely event that you get a yellow result after using our product, we recommend washing your hair with silver shampoo. Unite blonde toning shampoo is my favorite

If your hair turns red, the product has been on dark hair for too long. What you can do then is to ask a hairdresser to add a cooler shade, or buy a cold shade one step darker and add it yourself. If you are not sure which shade is right for you, you can always ask a hairdresser.

There is actually no difference. It's the exact same color I use at the salon.

Sunkissed is not metal-based, which means that you do not get a chemical reaction that wears out the hair, or changes the starting point for your hairdresser in terms of quality. Therefore, there won't be any chemical reactions when you bleach strands in the salon afterwards.

Right now you can only buy our products on our website http://lahaircolor.com or in my salon High Society at Nybrogatan 57A in Stockholm.

When you color your hair, it becomes permanent, that is, the color stays in until you choose to recolor or cut it off. Overtime, however, the result can add up a little. Our recommendation is to use Sunkissed when you feel the need between your salon visits. Because it's so gentle and doesn't wear out your hair more than a blow-dry, you can use it as often as you like. But for best results, it is best to have about 4 weeks between uses.

Our starter kit is enough for one round, but you also get the tools you need to apply. If you choose to use Sunkissed again, it is therefore enough to buy the refill kit if you saved your application tools. The refill kit contains only the ingredients for the color itself.

Because it's so gentle, you can use it as often as you want, because it's no more abrasive than a blow-dry. But for best results, approx. 4 weeks should ideally have passed between uses.

By towel-dried hair, we mean that the freshly washed hair has been dried with a towel until it is slightly damp, i.e. it should not be so wet that it drips on it. I usually wash my hair, wrap it in a turban, let the turban sit in while I mix all the ingredients in the color and then pour in the product when it's finished mixing. The hair should then have dried sufficiently.

Basebreaker / Bleaching

No, Sunkissed is a so-called Basebreaker, which is based on the highest quality light color and hydrogen. Since it is not bleaching, it only blurs out the very darkest shades in the hair.

It is fine to lighten completely light-colored hair with the help of light color. However, if you have tinted or dyed your hair darker before, it will not work. Color does not lift other color very well. Then you have to use bleach.

Sunkissed is not a bleach, but is categorized as a bright color, or basebreaker. That is, it is a color that you mix with hydrogen. But because you only leave the color for a short time, and because the basebreaker is not that strong, it only lightens the melanin in the hair a little and therefore leaves the hair without damage.

Sunkissed is a so-called Basebreaker, i.e. light color mixed with hydrogen and water. This should not be confused with bleaching powder without pigment. Light color is gentle on the hair and only lightens natural hair a few steps, as well as coloring some cold pigments in the lightening process to avoid yellow and orange results. Bleaching, on the other hand, brightens all hair types, up to 9 steps, contains no pigments that dampen yellow and orange and can be compared to tearing off many layers of wallpaper.

A basebreaker is a color that you mix with hydrogen and water, also called light color. When you put it on undyed hair, the hair shaft swells a bit so that the basebreaker can enter and start to lighten. Because you only leave the color for a short time, and because the basebreaker is not that strong, it only lightens the melanin in the hair a little and leaves the hair undamaged. In other words, a basebreaker blurs the darkest shades in the hair and is therefore perfect to use on the growth between hairdresser visits.
